CITY COUNCIL PROCLAMATION

A resolution congratulating Christmas Unlimited on its 75 years of service to the Pikes Peak region.

Whereas, Christmas Unlimited was established in 1923 and is celebrating 75 years of services to the citizens of Colorado Springs; and

Whereas, Christmas Unlimited is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Pikes Peak region families in need during the holiday season; and

Whereas, Christmas Unlimited is Southern Colorado’s largest toy distribution program, bringing joy and happiness to an average of 3,500 families each holiday season; and

Whereas, Christmas Unlimited’s method of toy distribution focuses on serving the adults in the family in an uplifting and compassionate way, thereby having an impact far beyond that of just making a child happy on Christmas Day; contributing to the parents’ self-esteem and family unity; and

Whereas, Christmas Unlimited is a non-sectarian, local organization multiplying is resources and effectiveness through partnerships with local business, military installations, churches, schools, service clubs and other agencies; mobilizing and army of over 700 volunteers of all ages who contribute tens of thousands of hours each year to its mission, and

Whereas, Christmas Unlimited’s programs extend beyond the holiday season and beyond children; recently expanding to serve seniors, to involve handicapped and challenged high school students in refurbishing toys, and managing Operation Back To School, which provides school supplies to families in need.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Colorado Springs;

That City Council gratefully acknowledges the contribution made to the community by Christmas Unlimited volunteers and officers.

That the City Council congratulates Christmas Unlimited on its 75 years of service to the Pikes Peak region.

Client

Thank you very much for your consideration. We recently sold nearly everything to afford the move here, my husband just started a new job so he doesn't make much yet.  We were worrying about Christmas.  It's a blessing that there's a program like this.

Thank you again,
D.B.
